The Inca Trail in 70,866 Steps
Kathryn and I are suckers for infographics—but this one definitely just topped the list as one of our favourites. Our friend (and co-worker) Sean Russo from G Adventures recently hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Just before he left, we asked him to count his steps for Looptail—the G Adventures Travel Blog. And so he did. Below is a fantastic infographic of the time (and steps) he took on the Inca Trail. Click here to see the infographic in its full glory!
So there you have the Inca Trail—trekked by Sean and lovingly visualized by Attit Patel.

I’m afraid the number of steps I took to Machu Picchu would be in the hundreds – it was rainy season so I took the train and loved it.
The train to Aguas Calientas is beautiful! We took it, as well — and walked the Inca Trail as far as the Sun Gate, which is a beautiful little stretch of the trail in its own right. Thanks for the comment, Ayngelina!
The 3 hour record set by one of the porters a few years ago is truly mindblowing… would love to know how the likes of Mo Farah would compare to that: truly athletic, particularly when you think that the average tourist (including myself!) does it in 3 full days hiking. Wow!
However long it takes to do, the Inca Trek is one of the highlights of my life.
