jaipurcitypalace Snap de la semaine: City Palace, Jaipur

The City Palace in Jaipur was built in the early 18th century. The different Mahals of the palace are decorated with pillars, arches, Mehrabs and grills which feature beautiful inlay works.

Kathryn and Daniel will post a ‘Snap de la semaine’ irregulary, but at a rate of one per week. It is an original photo not otherwise on the site—it might be fresh from our camera, a new scan of some old film, a product of our fooling around with Photoshop, or a file from the archive that we haven’t posted yet.

  1. I’m in love with the architecture in this picture! The intricacy in the main opening is beautiful, but the strange arches in the foreground are pretty incredible, as well. I love ornate architecture like this, and am sad that America doesn’t have more of it!

Thanks, Emily. The architecture is amazing all across Rajasthan. Paticularly interesting is a type of overhanging balcony they use Rajasthani architecture. I think it’s called a Jakora—although I am likely spelling it incorrectly. I’m telling you, Rajasthan chews through film!

Nicely framed shot. I like how the man sitting down looks a tad bored.

  3. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great.
I don’t know who you are but certainly you’re
going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already ;) Cheers!
