What We’re Reading: July 10, 2009

What we're reading...
Each friday, Kathryn and I share those sites and articles that we are currently reading or have recently read. In this week’s “What We’re Reading”, we’ve compiled a number of articles discovered as we wound our way through the web.
On Get Rich Slowly, JD fielded the eternal question from one of his readers: “Save more or see the world?“. His conclusion? Running counter to what you’d expect, he advocates for travel, writing “He has a chance to pick up something even more valuable than home equity: He has a chance to build life equity.” Life equity. I like that.
Via Twitter, Two Backpackers recommended Christopher Elliot’s article “A travel revolution:6 ways to leverage social media for a better vacation“. Elliot takes a look at the effect that Twitter has had on the travel industry and recommends some steps to take for the uninitiated!
Musician witnesses United Airlines baggage handlers throwing his guitar. Guitar is wrecked. United won’t help. Singer writes a song and makes a video “United Breaks Guitars.”
Gadi Glogowski was kind enough to take our request for a post, and has shared his thoughts on couchsurfing as a couple. Thanks guys! Check it out.
Mar Hurst asks a small, gentle question that could change your life. Check it out.
The following set of posts are near and dear to our hearts, as we’re a travel couple, too! Debra Corbeil (half of Canada’s adventure couple) weighs in on negotiation in an article entitled “The Art of Traveling with Your Loved One” which is a follow up to the TravelBlogs.com article, “Why the Journey is Better When You Have Someone to Share it With“. Deb and Dave know what they’re talking about, together having traveled to over 30 countries on 5 continents!
Over on BootsnAll, Sherry Ott outlines the Top 10 reasons to take a career Break…and travel.
Gillian over on One Giant Step has put up a really nice post on the Inca Trail. Great pics, too!
Not reading but gazing at beautiful shots of Roman windowsills on Robin Locker’s blog My Melange.
There’s also a pretty good comment thread over on PlanetD about the many uses of a sarong.
And remember, it’s Friday—Follow Friday for you Twitterheads. Check Two Go Round-The-World out on Twitter here.

Travelologist is faced with the choice of living in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. He asks the Booties. Considering I was robbed in HCMC, my vote was no surprise.
Various Booties weigh in on the books that made them want to travel.
